The sight of armored combatants on the field can be breathtaking to behold and we make every effort to convey the intensity and ferocity of individual combat to the viewer. We use real steel weapons, authentic medieval armor, and we fight at full speed and with full contact. It is our hope that the audience will find this to be a spectacular sight. |
This is a demonstration of the various methods used by medieval knights to train themselves and sharpen their skills for fighting from horseback and for jousting. We have a wide variety of "games" to demonstrate: Riding the rings with sword and lance, cabbage "heads", spear casting, and striking the quintain. |
Similar in spectacle to the ground combat, the mounted combat is conducted in full armor while on horseback. This combat can be one-on-one between two knights, or a grand melee between many knights. For this type of combat we use wooden clubs to reenact what was known in the Middle Ages as a "baton" combat. |
This is the crown jewel of knightly pursuits. Two fully armored knights astride highly trained warhorses charging down the tilt line towards their opponent with the goal of shattering their lance upon their opponents shield. The energy is unmistakeable and unique. If you've never witnessed live, full contact jousting you will be amazed. |
An extensive demonstration and discussion of the equipment, tools, and methods employed by the medieval armorer to craft the various pieces of armor worn by knights and horses. A wide array of smithing equipment and example pieces of armor are available for the students to handle. This presentation can become quite noisy. |
An interactive presentation about the typical daily life of a knight in the Middle Ages. The presentation begins with a discussion about young boys becoming Pages and entering into the training to become Squires with the goal of eventually becoming Knights. The duties, responsibilities, and rewards at each level of training is discussed. After covering the period of training to become a knight, the presentation moves on to a discussion about the "Code of Chivalry", a documented set of expections to which all knights would aspire. There will also be some discussion about the efectiveness of various weapons and techniques on the armor of the period as well as a brief segment on "busting" some commonly held myths about the Medieval Period. |
This presentation begins with a detailed description of the joust and what training was undertaken by squires and knights to attain proficiency. We begin with an introduction to the equipment and a discussion about the objectives and end with an interactive experience using our training device, a joust horse simulator, that we affectionally refer to as Woody. We select a few children to act as squires and actually ride on Woody with a training lance in hand in and attempt to strike a spinning quintain. This particular activity has proven to be immensely popular with most students. |
Gain a glimpse into the daily life of a person in the Middle Ages as we demonstrate the many household wares and objects that one might encounter. Everything from clothing and grooming accesories, to tableware and cooking utensils is displayed and discussed. |

This is an outdoor presentation where a Master Falconer brings an actual trained raptor to demonstrate one of the most popular pastimes of the Middle Ages. The presentation begins with how a falconer finds their raptor and establishes the relationship, and continues through the detailed discussion about the in-depth training that takes place. The students will learn about the specialized equipment used by the falconer. And finally, a demonstration of the birds ability to follow commands. It should be noted, that due to the very nature of raptors, this presentation is not always within our power to deliver. The Falconer's primary concern is always the health and welfare of their charge and as such their availability can be unpredictable. However, if we accept a contract to present this program we will make every possible effort to ensure it's delivery. |
